Article marketing still works, but you need to change your approach a little if you really want to make money online from it. Google and other search engines have cracked down on duplicate content and this includes article directories.

One way around that is to use a submission service. I personally have been using Submit Your Article for many years now. We use it for our Hands Off Article Marketing program.

Using a service such as this offers a few advantages, but Submit Your Article as a couple things I really like in particular.

1. Article Leverage. With this program you can write variations of your article to help make it unique.

This doesn't take any particular skill to do. You rewrite variations of sentences or paragraphs throughout the article.

At the end when you go to submit the article SYA spins unique variations of it so article directories are not all getting the exact same article. This is good because search engines appreciate having unique content. The search engines also like this better so you have a better chance of getting your articles published and picked up by them.

2. Resource Box. You can include a resource box at the end of every article where you hyperlink keyword phrases back to webpages you want to promote.

I have found this is an excellent way to drive traffic to your website from the articles you write. The other big benefit is you can build up keyword relevancy for those specific pages and eventually rank highly on Google and other search engines for them.

If you did nothing else but write articles, and hyperlink keyword phrases, eventually you can go to the top search engine for any keyword phrase you want. This ends up being excellent long-term traffic as well.

3. Naked articles. Submit Your Article has a blog network you can submit your articles to as well. With these you backlink a keyword phrase in the body of the article.

You will have no resource box submitted which blog owners appreciate. This is a good way to get backlinks in other people's blogs without contacting each blog over individually.

Over time you will have a high number of articles in blogs all over the Internet. This appears natural to Google which will help your site rank better with them.
