Building an online home business today should include having your own blog. As a matter of fact almost every site I build now is set up using WordPress with a static home page.

This means I can continue to blog and add content very easily without my homepage changing. Plus today there are many excellent WordPress themes you can use that do not even look like a blog.

So, whether you are actually blogging, or using a blog as your website, you're going to need to get traffic to it. Let's talk about five marketing strategies that are working to make money online today.

1. Email marketing. This is a great way to drive traffic when you have a list. You should always be working on adding new subscribers in numerous ways.

You can then send out offers to your list and make sales to it. You can also post updates on your blog and refer your list back to those as an easy way to get more traffic.

2. SEO. Search engine optimization is something you want to do with every blog post you make.

Target keyword phrase in the title of the blog post, and in the introduction and closing paragraph. Bold those keywords to give them additional emphasis. Bookmark your blog post using Only Wire and list the title and keywords for the search engines to see.

5. Paid traffic. Google Adwords is still the king of pay per click advertising. Ezine advertising with HBAds and MyWizard Ads is a good way to reach a targeted audience without spending alot of money.
