Air Transat is a Canadian Airline and wholly owned subsidiary of Transat A.T. Inc., specializing in holiday travel. Air Transat is one of Canada's largest airlines, following Air Canada and WestJet. The Airline is based in Saint-Laurent, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and operates scheduled and charter flights, serving 60 destinations in 25 countries. Air Transat's chief Canadian gateways are Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport, and Vancouver International Airport. The airline also has operations at Calgary International Airport, Québec/Jean Lesage International Airport and others.

Air Transat makes over 13,300 flights annually and carries about 3.2 million passengers. Hot spot destinations Air Transat offers service from Canada to include Mexico, the Caribbean, and specific Latin American countries. The Airline also provides many routes between Canada and Europe, with 60 direct city-pairs connecting 8 Canadian cities and 33 European destinations. Air Transat's winter services to sunny destinations include 28 destinations.

In December 1986, former Quebecair employees and managers founded Air Transat as an off-shoot of Trafic Voyages. Air Transat made its inaugural flight on November 14, 1987, travelling from Montreal to Acapulco. In 1993, Air Transat took over Nationair's maintenance base and aircraft. In August 2001, an Air Transat aircraft flying from Toronto to Lisbon, carrying 293 passengers and a crew of 13, developed a serious fuel leak. With an empty tank, the airplane coasted for about 19 minutes above the Atlantic Ocean before making a successful emergency landing in the Azores.

In 2008, Air Transat became a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). For the fiscal year 2010, the Airline reported sales of $3.5 billion. As of November 1, 2010, Air Transat held a fleet of 21wide-body Airbus aircraft - 12 Airbus A310s containing 249 seats and 9 Airbus A330s containing 342 seats). The Airline employs more than 2,100 people. On February 13, 2011, Air Transat Flight TS163 operated their first all female flight crew from Cancun to Vancouver.

Air Transat's capacity is primarily marketed by its sister company Transat Tours Canada. Transat A.T. Inc. is an integrated international tour operator with more than 60 destination countries and that distributes products in over 50 countries. A holiday travel specialist, Transat operates mainly in Canada and Europe, as well as in the Caribbean, Mexico and the Mediterranean Basin. Montreal-based Transat is also active in air transportation, destination services and distribution Air Transat has licences to operate regular flights between Canada and 13 European countries which includes - Ireland, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Austria, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Germany and Poland, as well as 5 in North and Central America which includes the United States, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Panama.

Air Transat is Canada's leading holiday travel airline. Air Transat has been awarded IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) accreditation by IATA. IOSA registration means an airline has complied with all the IOSA standards and confirms its commitment to safety. So far, no fatal incidents involving an Air Transat aircraft have been recorded. Air Transat now carries nearly 3.2 million passengers each year and they have more plans to grow their company and services.
