What Is The Difference Between A Blog And A Website?

Those of us that do Internet marketing full time to make money online tend to forget that the average person is not always aware of what different phrases mean. For example, the other day I was talking to someone about my blog and they asked me what exactly a blog was and how I used it to make money.

This got me to thinking about the average person and how they really don't understand Internet marketing or blogging in particular. It also got me thinking about the differences between a blog and a website.

Today Word Press offers many excellent themes you can quickly set up a blog and start publishing content with. One feature I particularly like is how you can set your homepage as a static page.

What that means is it remains constant even if you add published content. Some WordPress themes are so good that you cannot even tell if they are a blog.

You can actually set up your blog as a website with a static homepage and then add content whenever you want. The homepage doesn't change and when people land on it they think they are looking at a website.

This is a good route to go if you are not particularly good with website design. It allows you to focus on content as opposed to design.

When you build a website, and want to add new content to it, that is not as easy to do as it is if it's set up as a blog to start with.

We know that search engines love fresh content. This is why you see so many blogs ranking highly in the search engine for specific targeted keyword phrases.

Automating the whole process of blogging, pinging, and social bookmarking is another great thing about blogging. You can hire a blog writer, and you don't even have to worry about writing content if you don't want to.

You can hire an outsource worker and let them post your blog articles for you. You can set the publish date and automate one whole month's worth of content if you get enough articles written in advance.

Again your home page doesn't have the change as you're adding content. You set it as a static page, set up categories for different posts, and then publish into those.

If all this sounds difficult it really isn't. There are many people that now make money on the Internet every day blogging in targeted niches. Most of these people are just like me in that they're not really technically oriented and find blogging much easier than website building.
