Termites are some of the dreaded undesirable unwanted pests because of their destructive qualities. They are dangerous for the property characteristics or houses available because it can destroy the durability and sturdiness of your dwelling.

What are termites?

Termite is one type of pest with different species. They usually live in colonies. You can easily distinguish their presence because they live in mounds. These mounds are considered the kingdom of the queen termite which lays their nest in different places inside the mounds. Some termites build their mounds above the soil, dead barks of trees and fallen stumps.

Majority of homeowners hate their presence because it means destruction to their property. If they are already located in specific areas, be sure to find their mounds immediately to eradicate them and to prevent further damage on your properties.

Once your house is infested with termites, for sure there are wooden portions which are hollow and which are no longer durable. If you fail to eradicate, kill them and destroy their mounds, they will grow in thousands or millions.

Some termite mounds are located under the soil, while others are found in fallen trees and tree stumps. This is the primary reason why pest eradicators suggest removing tree stumps if you decide to eradicate and kill them.

Why remove mounds?

You need to remove and destroy their homes because they can infest your wooden house and destroy their structure without you knowing it. Homeowners usually fail to identify if the wood structure is already infested with termites because it cannot be seen on the outside. You will only know their presence when one part of your house already collapsed. Upon examining, you will notice that the wood is already hollow and with termites inside. It is for this reason that you need to do regular check up of your house to assess the presence of pests like termites.

Because termites are dangerous to your wooden house, be sure to call professional termite exterminators to eradicate them properly.

Ways of preventing the onset of termites:

If you are still on the initial stage of house construction, be sure to use only termite resistant woods like juniper, redwood and cedar.

Have regular check up of the wooden parts of your house to detect possible termite infestation. Be sure to check for leaks and damp areas in the house because they usually thrive and love wet areas.

Be sure to keep the wall vents dry and free from termites. Remember that termites love moist and wet areas.

Be sure to use weather sealers to seal the exposed parts of the wood and to prevent the moisture from coming in. You can apply sealer on window frames, wall edges and other spaces which are prone to get wet.

Apply termite prevention solution in the wooden portions of your house to prevent their onset.

By following these guidelines and suggestions, you can have a termite-free house. Remember that it is expensive to do some repairs on termite-damaged areas on your real estate properties.
