Positive Messages And Images Evoke Positive Attitudes

Positivity breeds positivity is one of the truest quotes ever spoken. It is a fact, that in many cases positive messages and images evoke the same attitudes. This is the main reason why the saying a smile is contagious exists. Here, we will explore this fantastic point in more detail.

Where is it Used?

The main place that positive messages and images are used to allow people to think positively is at the office. This is because the poster used to portray the message does not cost a lot, yet the benefits that one message could have for the company could be invaluable.

With this in mind, work is not the only place where these messages and images are used. There are thousands of companies all over the world that use positive messages and images for advertisement. There are even companies that use images that have little or nothing to do with the company so you build a positive opinion about them.

Does it Work?

Some people are rather sceptical about how messages and images used on motivational posters actually work to get people stimulated. These people often think that they could stop their brain from thinking in a positive way about a single image or quote, and they are right. However, the reality is that the brain will not make a drastic change if you do not allow it, but there will be a minor change subconsciously.

Let's be realistic, a company that you do not like will not change your opinion of them with a single image or quote. The fact of the matter is that (as long as it is relevant) a positive image or message in a large percentage of cases will not be seen negatively so can only have a helpful effect.

Why it Works

Our subconscious uses the positive messages and images that we see associated with a company and links the two together. All the changes that happen will be on a subconscious level, but as the conscious starts to believe, the subconscious changes the way the thoughts are processed.

Coming across positive messages and images time and time again will continue to chip away at even the strongest of resistances. Once your conscious resistance breaks down your subconscious takes over and allows you to re-evaluate your thoughts.

These messages always work best over a long period of time. This is why you often find that these messages become the company's motto or mission statement.

Positive messages and images work in the same way as affirmation, which is what parents use to teach their children the difference between right and wrong.

With the above in mind, it is clear to see that positive messages and images evoke the same attitudes, especially in motivational posters. Try something different the next time you are dealing with somebody who does not seem to be happy, smile at them, and you will notice a change in their mood. This is something that really does work, and therefore, proves the above statement.
