You want your wedding day to be perfect and unique, like the ones in the movies. Maybe you don't have as big of a budget as you would like to have on this occasion, but you do have creativity and your personal sense of style and flare! You can use a few simple steps to create your own favors, with your own look, and spend much less than you would in a bridal catalogue. Here are my simple tips on how to decide if DIY wedding favors are right for you.

The theme should relate to you and your fiance's relationship in some way, so lets take a look at some basic points. Where did the two of you meet? If there were sentimental or unique aspects to how you two came to be, this is a great place to start in coming up with the theme. The two of you have built your relationship on such memories, so why not include them in your big day?

Another good place to start is in tradition. Do you two have something you do together often? Do your families have any traditions you would like to include? Is there anything that you two have in common such as hobbies that you take part in together, or a recurring event that you attend? Any of these things can be included if you feel they represent what you and your better half believe in or enjoy doing. It is all a matter of what part of your wedding you want people to take home to remember.

The next step is deciding on the colors you will use in your favors. Many people use coming holidays as the inspiration behind the colors used in their wedding decorations. Other people are influenced by the seasons or surroundings for their choice of colors. If you and your better half have favorite colors that go well together, maybe you could use them. Any color-scheme is a good color-scheme if it makes your wedding more unique and special to you.

Another idea, would be where the two of you will be getting married. If near the ocean, you could use ocean-related colors, or if it's in the mountains you could use greens like the environment found there. Once you know the ideas and colors surrounding your themes you should pick how bold or quaint you want the favors to be. This could coincide with how big or small the wedding is supposed to be. All of these weigh on what kind of favors you will be making.

Now that you've gone through these few steps, the next step is to go shopping. For this step you can do whatever you feel suits you best. Some people have done the shell decorated picture frame with a snapshot of them and their special someone having fun together, others go bigger with a whole vase of silk flowers that go as a dazzling centerpiece for the tables at their reception. Either way you go you have to keep track of how many people you are going to be sending these home with, because you have to buy enough materials for everyone. You also have to remember the things you will need to assemble these decorations, ex. Hot glue, floral tape, wire, ribbons, etc. You don't want to have to make a second trip!

Now that you have all of this, you have to actually put the favors together. This step is simple with a little creativity and bit of patience. Just visualize what you want, and piece together the materials, and then apply whatever binding tool you've chosen to hold it together. I've seen people use fish bowls with marbles in the bottom and silk flowers coming out of the top, and I've seen some use bubbles with a shear fabric bunched up over the top and tied off with a decorative ribbon. It all depends on your taste.

These are just a few of the simple, inexpensive favors that have been used before. Remember whatever you do, this is your day, and it should represent your relationship in a way that works for you. No matter what you choose to do, just know that the guests will go home happy knowing that they got to keep a little piece of your special day, and making the favors yourself will do even more to ensure that the memories are unique.

Your wedding day is one of the biggest days of your life, so you want it to be perfect, right? Naturally! But what do you do if you're on a tight budget that doesn't allow for fancy decor? If this is the case on your big day, then DIY wedding favors is the solution for you! In this article you can find inexpensive, easy solutions to your decorating needs.
