We can name many reasons why you might want to create a good solar water heater. Most individuals want to have smaller heating bills while different others simply think about our environment and are considering it to save fossils or trees. The truth is quite simple: a good water heater is beneficial for any home. Many variations are possible and available for every person. Choose one solar water heater that is a part of a passive system so that there is no need for an additional energy source.

Your personal water needs should be analyzed at first when building solar water heaters. While statistics show that a person uses around 30 gallons daily you might need more. You can cut down on costs if you look for an electrical water heater tank that was discarded but is big enough for you. Think about where you will put the new heater. It should be placed outside the house with it facing south so that good sun ray exposure is possible.

The tank must be painted black so that more sun energy is to be absorbed. Also, you are going to need one plywood box for your water tank. It has to feature an incline in order for the heater to be placed in an upright position. Fiberglass insulation can be used on the interior of the box so that energy loss is minimal. After this the water tank has to be installed.

Special fittings are equipped in the bottom of tank for pipes and plumbing. They are to carry water from home to a solar heater. Then connect another pipe set from the water heater's top. These are the pipes that go back to your regular heater inside the house. It is highly recommended to own one in order to properly have backup units and maintain water warm for longer periods of time. Exposed pipes need to show insulation in order to avoid winter freezing.

Insulation foam could be used although the utility of fiberglass is much better. Now the box has to be covered with the use of window glass or plastic. When doing this anyone can easily keep the heat inside the box.
