It is time to plan the next holiday with the kids. They have no school for the weekend plus one day either Monday or Friday. There are many things to do right at home but the kids would probably enjoy getting away for a few days. Child friendly holidays are a great idea for families for it will give everyone some time be together as a family and everyone will get to know each other a little better.

The short time period doesn't allow for a kid cruise or going out of the country very far. Check on the internet and see what lies just around the corner, so to speak, from your own neighborhood. Most places are not too terribly far from a National Park or other place to go camping. That could be a great choice. Kids can run around to their hearts content.

Maybe three or four hour drive at most to the campground you have chosen. You have checked and the campground has a great pool and they also have horseback riding. These two things alone should make most kids very happy but there is more. There is also hiking and archery.

Some camps keep small animals in an area for petting. Many kids don't have a chance to even see little farm animals and just love the chance to do so. Hiking, archery and other activities can be available. Evening movies are something that everyone usually enjoys, and parents don't have to be shushing their kids at this one.

Nature hike guides provided by the park are very knowledgeable of their surroundings here and will give your kids a great learning experience without it seeming like one. Parents can come along as well, but the children will be well looked after for an hour or two and relaxing at the beach or in the camp may be preferable to the folks.

Lake beaches can be just as much fun as ocean beaches on the east, west or southern shores. Depending upon where you live, none of these may be available to you in a short distance. The sun is the same in all places, and it shines just as brightly and burns just as badly no matter where you find yourself. The world has lots of beaches, one more lovely than the next, and kids can have fun at any of them, too.

A long weekend provides just about enough time to do several of the available things, but maybe not all. The folks get to relax a bit, hike and swim with the kids and eat together. This was the idea, to spend time together and get to know each other. Talking is sometimes easier done when not in the home environment.

When this short time is up, you all decide that this was a great idea and you begin making tentative plans for another one in the future. When more time is available, an educational and fun trip can be made to perhaps a foreign country. There are many child friendly holidays to be taken around the world or in your own back yard. Being together is the main thing, since so much of our time is away from one another, going to school and work.
