You can safely change the oil in your car or automobile. With just a few easy simple steps I will explain how to change the oil your self in your car and save yourself money and frustration taking it to a shop. You just need some basic tools like a wrench,a pan to catch the oil, and a pair of jacks stands to safely support the vehicle while you're working underneath it. You should have all the tools necessary to change the oil in your car automobile handy and ready to go before you start the steps.
First you will need to make sure that you have the proper size wrench or socket to loosen the oil drain pan plug with. So it's a good idea to have your tools already handy and already have the correct tools for the job before you begin to change the oil in your car. You will need to use a floor jack to safely jack the car up on both sides of the frame. Once you have the car safely jack to a position where you can work underneath it you need to place floor jacks to support the frame on both sides of the frame so the car will be supported and you can work 100 percent safely.
Now that you have the car safely supported with Jack stands on both sides of the frame you can now proceed to loosen the oil drain pan plug with your wrench or socket. Make sure you have a large pan underneath the oil pan to catch the oil as it comes out of the oil pan once you take the plug out. Let all the oil drain out of the pan till no more oil comes out the drain hole, once this is done you can screw back in the oil drain pan plug and tighten it with your wrench.
Once the oil has been drained out of the pan you can now proceed to loosen the oil filter located underneath your car with the oil filter wrench loosen this till it comes off the vehicle. Make sure you have a large pan underneath this to catch any oil that may spill out of the filter. Once the old filter has been taken off the car you can now screw on the new filter in its place.
Now that you have safely drained the old oil out of the vehicle and taken the old oil filter off and replaced it with a new oil filter you can now go to the next step. Once this is done you can safely lower the vehicle off of the jack stands back to its original position. You will need to loosen the oil filler cap on the engine so you can put new oil into the vehicle. Using a funnel you can now pour the correct amount of oil needed to fill it up to the correct level, this information should be available in the owners manual for the vehicle.
Once this is done and you've added the correct amount of new fresh oil to your engine you can now screw back on the oil filler cap and you can safely start the vehicle. Once the vehicle has started for a minute or so shut the vehicle off open back up the hood take the oil dipstick out wipe it off and check level of the oil to make sure that it that the correct level. Also check that there is no oil leaking from underneath the car so you can make sure that you did the job right the first time and that all oil caps and fittings are tight in the engine.
Now that you can see how easy it is to change the oil in your vehicle, with the steps that I have mentioned in the above paragraphs I hope you will find this information helpful. If you follow the steps I've mentioned you can safely and efficiently change the oil in your car yourself and save some money and know that the job was done right the first time.
