Some people love to write articles and it shows. Some people write because they want the results that article marketing can bring them. Regardless of your reason you should take a step back periodically and determine whether you are improving as an article writer.

Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt were in a movie once titled "As Good As It Gets". They both won Accademy Awards which has not been done since. The title makes for a good question in just about everything in our lives.

As an article writer it is worth considering whether you are as good as you are ever going to be. I personally don't think that is the case, but I do recognize that most people really have no desire to win a Pulitzer Prize.

To really be successful with article marketing you do not need to spend a lot of time writing articles. As a matter of fact it's almost counterproductive to put more quality into an article that people are not going to read that closely.

Think about how you read things online. Most people, including myself, tend to scan things as we read online. If that is the case there is really no sense in writing the perfect article.

However, I do think there are things that you can improve on as an article writer. These primarily relate back to the content you are writing about.

All of us should do the basics when it comes to writing an article. This means using proper grammar, no spelling errors, structuring an article that is easy to read, and so on.

The real way you can improve in article writing is to write content that is more interesting than your competitor is writing about. One way to do that is to subscribe to various online newsletters, Google alerts, and so on, which will help you keep up to date on what is going on in your own industry.

When you can include something in your article that not everybody else is writing about it helps you stand out as an article writer. It also helps to brand yourself as an expert in the niche you are writing about.

Search engines love it when you do this as well. So do article directories. As the Internet continues to become more cluttered with content finding ways to be unique is becoming even more important.

When you can do this naturally you will find that more people will read your articles. That will lead to more traffic to your website. This ultimately is the greatest compliment you can get and it will show you are improving as an article writer.
