I have run home businesses in the past where it was required to stock inventory. To me one of the true affiliate marketing benefits is you do not need to carry any inventory to make money from home.

If you're not familiar with affiliate marketing there are several ways you can make money online without stocking any inventory. Here are a few of them.

1. Pay per sale. In this business model you get paid to sell products for an affiliate merchant.

What's great is the merchant provides everything you need to make money. They provide the products and ship them directly to the customer. You do not need to stock anything in this case.

They give you a website to promote and marketing materials to promote it with. They collect from the customer and send you your commissions based on their compensation plan.

This is a truly hands off way to make money with affiliate programs. Again, you do not have to stock any of the inventory when a customer makes a purchase.

2. Pay per lead. Getting customers to fill out short forms is another way to make money. Online advertisers need leads and they are willing to pay you to get them.

All of this is done on the Internet so you don't need to carry any inventory or marketing materials. The affiliate program that you join will provide this for you.

3. Pay per click. This is just about as easy as it gets. Google Adsense is the largest ppc affiliate program and they pay out hundreds of millions of dollars in commissions every year.

You have probably seen Google ads on other Internet marketers websites. These people are involved in the affiliate program for Google and are getting paid whenever one of their visitors clicks on one of the ads.

Google does the advertising sales for you. They provide training on how to set up the ads and place the code on your webpages. It's all very easy to do.

4. 2-tier affiliate marketing. In this scenario you get paid to recruit affiliates into the program you are promoting.

You make money on the sales or actions of the affiliate you have recruited. These programs pay you for your personal sales, and pay the affiliates you recruit for their sales.

However, you can also earn a smaller commission on the efforts of these affiliates. Again no stocking inventory is needed and everyone makes money when a sale is made.
