Are you thinking about starting a blog to make money? Perhaps you have a blog, but you need to branch into a new area. Here are a few tips to keep in mind before you start your blog!
1. Stick to what you know. This is really good advice for people who are new to blogging.
I have found from personal experience that it's much easier to maintain a blog if you have some knowledge on the subject you are writing about. When you become more experienced at blogging you can branch into targeted niche blogs and make more money.
However, when you first start out if you choose a topic that you have some knowledge on it will be much easier to stick with it. Another way to think of this is to write about things that you have an interest in, or passion for.
This will give you a couple of options. You could start a blog of something that you are an expert at. You could start a blog on something you have a passion for, and spend a lot of time reading about, or participate in.
You are going to find this very easy to keep up with when it doesn't seem like work. I think many people fail at blogging because it's just too much work to sit down and write all the time.
When you know about the topic, you can quickly write 150 to 200 word blog articles. These can contain useful information and are very easy to write.
2. Value your readers. This is another reason to blog on topics that interest you or you have knowledge on. When you're writing about things that are interesting to a reader, they will value your information and come back to see more of your articles.
You stand a better chance of a blog article going viral if it's written as though it's useful to the reader. Referral marketing is a great way to make money online, and this is especially true in social media such as blogging.
3. Differentiate yourself. Although there may be blogs already written in the niche you choose, you can be different in the way you approach them.
If you want to sell products on your blog you need to be different from your competitors. The way you communicate to them in your blog should stand out.
You can do this not only in the articles you write, but in the way you set your blog up. Make it easy to get around in. Keep it exciting by adding graphics, and videos.
You can also add product banners for anything you might be selling. Anything that adds color can be more exciting than a drab blog that is written primarily with no appeal other than the article itself.
