It really can seem at times that there's just far too many laws for us to follow on the books today. In fact there's so many now that it's just impossible to keep track of them all which also makes it difficult to get through life without breaking any. For sure when you're driving. So now comes word that it's illegal now for payday loan operators to operate in a total of six states in the US. So does this mean that it's against the law to apply for one of these loans there?

The short answer to that question, is "no it's not". This is because these types of laws and other regulations that govern how online lending sides can operate in various states, only apply to them. The operators of the sites, not you. So sure you can apply for a payday loan online if you live in a state where they're restricted but all that can happen is you're going to be rejected. However, there is still a way that you can break the law when applying for an online loan.

That would be by altering a document or creating fake documents that you then use as part of the application process. It's called loan fraud, and you better believe that's a serious crime because they're people sitting in prison right now doing multi-years sentences for doing it. They changed a few facts and figures on a document, submitted it, and thought that nobody would even notice.

What's important to take note of here, is that any alteration of any document submitted as part of the loan application process qualifies as loan fraud. That means changing even one number on something like a paycheck stub, and the same laws apply no matter where you apply for cash credit. Your local bank, a credit union, and yes of course online payday type fast loan sites are also covered by the same laws.

Now the odd thing here, is that while it's illegal to alter a document in any way, at the same time is perfectly legal to open your mouth and tell any lie you want to while applying for a loan. Just as long as you do it verbally because then it's up to the lender to verify any information that they're given. There's a lot of liars out there too. However it's when they cross the line into altering documents is when they get into trouble.

So the gist of it all, is that in the end, it really is just better if you be perfectly honest when ever you're applying for any type of credit. Cash credit online or a line of credit at a store at the local mall. You see, one lie always leads to another to cover it up, and all too often you end up getting caught. Also you never know when you might run into financial trouble and need your creditor to work with you to get through it.
